What MAP Monitoring Finds Besides Violations

Keep the compliant listings your monitoring finds, alongside violations. Record verified seller details and missing information. The list covers observed offers. It is not proof that every seller was found or identified.

Why the list exists whether you want it or not

Observed compliance is the share of evaluated listings at or above policy. Keep those observations so the denominator can be checked. Confirm which records the monitoring provider includes and what the service costs.

This is also why a report of violations found, on its own, tells you very little. It has a numerator and no denominator. Twenty violations against two hundred listings is a different company from twenty against forty.

Sellers you did not know you had

Some of the storefronts advertising your parts correctly have no relationship with you at all. They take a feed from a wholesale distributor, list what is in it, and price at the number the feed carries. They have never spoken to anyone at your company and you have no record of them.

They are already behaving. Knowing who they are turns them into something your sales team can work with.

What the list is good for

Review the list with the account team for useful contacts. A compliant price does not by itself qualify a seller for your dealer network.

Concrete uses that come up:

• telling sellers about a promotion when the ones who actually advertise your parts are known by name
• locating resellers for a service bulletin, alongside the other distribution records
• part number changes and supersessions, which resellers otherwise discover from a customer complaint
• checking whether a distributor’s feed is carrying your current price

The seller who was compliant last quarter

The list is a snapshot. A later price change needs investigation before its cause is assigned. Keep file versions and later captures with the seller record, and report when an offer was last checked.

What this does not do

Pricing compliance does not establish the stock source. A test purchase may provide evidence, and shipment records may provide more. Confirm the route where the records allow it. Keep an inconclusive result open.
